My first experience on IT where I met a multi-disciplinary team with people from India, USA, Brazil, Argentina among other countries. I learnt how professional work was done, but also discovered how difficult is to keep a large team working.
Achievements
• Increased code testing coverage to 85% across a large-scale React monorepo, significantly improving code quality and reducing production bugs in legacy codebase spanning multiple years of development.
• Collaborated with Product Management on sprint planning, task prioritization, and accurate effort estimation across multiple development cycles, contributing to improved project delivery timelines.
Skills Learned
Testing
Gained hands-on experience with comprehensive testing practices including unit testing, integration testing, and test automation. Learned to write maintainable test suites, follow TDD principles, and ensure code quality through systematic testing approaches in a production environment.
Everyday work in a large team
Developed essential collaboration skills for large-scale engineering teams through daily stand-ups to sync progress and blockers, ticket estimations for sprint planning, coworking sessions for knowledge sharing, collaborative debugging sessions to solve complex issues, and on-call assignments to maintain system reliability and respond to production incidents.
SCRUM/Agile
Worked within agile frameworks including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and sprint reviews. Learned to estimate story points, participate in cross-functional team collaboration, and adapt to iterative development cycles while maintaining consistent delivery cadence.
